How do I block, unblock, or report abuse in Skype?
Back to search resultsYou can block a contact to prevent them from calling you, sending you instant messages, and seeing your presence status in Skype. In addition to blocking a contact, you can also choose to report abuse. This notifies us of spammers, so we can stop them in the early stages of their activity. Note: If you receive an unwanted call from an unknown phone number, you’ll have the option to block the number right from the chat. Simply select the Block + the number link to block that number. In Skype, go to the chat where you need to report abuse. To report the message, image, or other item: On mobile – tap and hold on the item. On desktop – right click the item. Select Report from the menu. In the Report this window, select the reason for reporting the item. You will also have the option to block this contact. Select Report again to confirm. In Skype, from the Chats or Contacts tab, right click or tap and hold on the contact you want to block and select View profile. Scroll to the bottom of their profile window and select Block contact. Note: On desktop you can also select the Edit button then select Block contact. From the Block this contact? window, you can: Report abuse and then block the contact: Turn the toggle for Report abuse from this person on, select a reason, and then select Block. Block someone without reporting abuse: Select Block. Select Block again to confirm. Once the contact is blocked, they will be removed from your contact list. Note: If you block someone who is in one of your groups, their messages will still be visible in that group. You will need to remove the participant from that group to stop receiving their messages. However, if it is a moderated group, you may not have permission to remove them. Android 4. 0. 4 – 5. 1 In Skype, from the Contacts tab, tap and hold on the contact you want to block. Select Block contact. From the Block this person? window, you can: Report abuse from this person: Toggle Report abuse from this person on, select a reason, then select Block. Block without reporting abuse: Select Block. Once the contact is blocked, they will be removed from your chats and contact list.

If you a message that says “this contact hasn’t shared details with you” then that contact have not yet accepted your contact request. Possible that the privacy settings of that specific contact is allowing
IMs only for contact list and not for anyone. You can advise your friend to accept your contact request or you can send another contact request after you unblock your friend on Skype.
If you wish to unblock a contact:
In the main menu, select
Tools > the Skype Options box, select
Privacy > Blocked Contacts. A list of blocked contacts is the contact you’d like to unblock and click
Unblock this person.
After you unblock the contact, sign out and sign back in on Skype.

Hello there,
I have followed all steps of unblocking the contact, but it won’t be displayed in the friends list no matter that the chat is pinned and the contact was added in my favourite contacts.
Also, I don’t receive any notification when messages are exchanged unless I search in the contacts list by name!
This is really crazy.

How to Unblock Someone on Skype for PC, Mac, and Web
Follow the steps below to unblock a Skype contact. Once you unblock that person, they will likely see any missed messages or call logs that were sent while the block was in place.
Select the More icon (the three dots) next to your name, then select Settings.
Select Contacts.
Select Blocked Contacts.
Find the person you want to unblock, then select the Unblock button.
How to Unblock Someone on Skype for Android and iOS
The methods for unblocking a contact on Android and iOS are nearly identical to the method for PC and Mac.
Tap your profile picture at the top of the Chats screen.
Select Settings.
Tap Contacts.
Choose Blocked Contacts.
Find the contact you want to unblock and tap the Unblock button to the right.
How to Unblock a Contact on Older Versions of Skype
Older versions of Skype for Android and iOS may not hide blocked contacts. Instead, these apps display a red Stop icon next to the name. To unblock these people, long-press their names, access their profile, and tap Unblock contact.
Similarly, older versions of Skype on Android or iOS may not hide a blocked contact if their number is saved in the phone’s app contacts. These contacts have On Skype as Name/Username listed underneath their entries in the Skype contact list.
