How to Block
If you receive unwanted messages, reblogs, or followers, you can block the blogs. You can do so from several places within Tumblr:
From your mobile or web dashboard, open the user’s blog by clicking or tapping on the avatar, open the meatballs menu (●●●), and select “Block. ” You can also use the meatballs menu on any post in your dashboard to block a blog.
From your blog settings page on the web, scroll down and click the pencil to edit your blocked users, then type in the user that you want to block.
From a post’s notes on the web, hover over a reply or reblog caption, then click the three dots that appear to bring up the block option.
From a chat, click or tap the three dots at the top of the screen, and choose “Block. ”
From your Inbox, tap the three dots on the ask or submission, and then select “Block. ” On web and iOS, the three dots will be at the top right corner of the message. On Android, it will be at the bottom of the message.
From a push notification (for follows, mentions, or messages), tap the “Block” button that comes up when you do the following:
On iPhones with 3D Touch, hard-press the notification.
On older iPhones, swipe the notification over to the left and tap the “View” button.
On Android phones, swipe down on the notification.
What Blocking Accomplishes
Blocked users will not be able to:
Follow your blog.
Message you.
Send asks to your Tumblr.
See your posts in their dashboard.
Like or reblog your posts.
See you in search results.
Other Considerations
Blocking is performed at the blog level (not account). You will need to block someone from each blog on your account.
Blocking from secondary blogs is not supported in the mobile app at the moment (you’ll need to use a browser).
We don’t tell people when you block them, but they might figure it out on their own if, for instance, they visit your blog, try to reblog one of your posts, and are prevented from doing so.
If an admin of a Group Blog blocks someone using that account, the block will affect all of the members on that blog.
Anonymous asks are not associated with a specific account, and blocking those will block the IP address of the sender. There’s no way to unblock an anonymous IP address, and if you keep receiving these anonymous asks from different (and unblocked) IP addresses, you’ll have to disable anonymous asks or disable the ask feature entirely in your blog settings.
Attempting to circumvent the block feature is a violation of our Community Guidelines and may result in action being taken against the blocked blog (and respective account).
How to Unblock

Tap the account icon (the little human) and select the correct blog at the top left corner. After that, tap the gear icon and look for “Blocked Tumblrs”.

What Does Blocking Do on Tumblr? – Small Business – Chron …

Tumblr is a social network built on sharing content with others, making it a great place to share your products and services while interacting with followers. However, if you deal with any spam or harassment, you may need to block certain users. Tumblr’s ignore feature works slightly different than a total block, but still provides you with options to prevent specific users from communicating with you or seeing your updates in their dashboard. What Blocking Does Blocking someone on Tumblr primarily prevents that user from communicating with you in any way. He will not be able to see anything from you in his dashboard, and you won’t see him in your dashboard. He will also not be able to send you messages of any kind. If you’re already following that user, you do not need to unfollow him for this to take effect. What Blocking Doesn’t Do Blocking doesn’t prevent someone from seeing your blog outside of his dashboard. If someone wants to see your blog, he can still go directly to your blog’s URL to see all your posts, but he won’t be able to interact with you under the blocked username. Blocking someone also does not send that person a notification that you have blocked him, although he may notice independently. How to Block Someone To block someone you must first know the URL to his blog or his username. Visit Tumblr’s Ignored Users page (see link in Resources), then input the person’s URL or username into the text box. Ater you block someone, you have the option to report that person to Tumblr’s staff for abuse, harassment or spam. Tumblr users are also not sent any notifications if you decide to report them for any reason. You can also stop ignoring any person at any time by clicking “Stop Ignoring” next to his name. Creating Private Blogs If you’re concerned about privacy, one way to have a blog followed only by people you approve is to create a password-protected blog. While you can’t enable this for your main blog, you can create an additional blog from your dashboard and enable the password protect option that way. Click the downward arrow button next to your blog’s name in the upper right corner of your dashboard, then click “Create a new blog. ” After selecting the title and URL you want, select “Password protect this blog, ” then type in the password you want people to enter to view your blog.
