I’ve been a long time Du customer and never did I realize that they install DSL routers up on our ceilings for the broadband package. Anyways, if you stumbled upon this post, you’re probably facing issues with some sort of NAT issues. So here are the details that you probably need:
The router IP address: 192. 168. 1. 1 by default.
Router console: The router model that was installed on mine is a Zhone 6742-A1
The default creds are
Username: Admin
Password: Conf

Here’s the scenario: you are trying to fix network issues at a relative’s place and you need to access the router’s browser interface. We’ve all been there, fruitlessly pecking in combinations of 192. 168. x. Unless you have every default router address tattooed on your forearm, you’ll eventually encounter one that stumps you.
When that happens, you can typically find the information with a simple command on Windows or macOS. Open the command prompt (Start > Run > ‘cmd’) and then enter ipconfig. The address you need should be next to Default Gateway under your Local Area Connection, and it will often begin with 192. On a Mac, the information is easily found under network options, or using the Terminal, use the command netstat -nr | grep default.

Default usernames and passwords
Likewise, if you’re looking for default usernames and passwords, Router Reset should have you covered. Common default usernames include variations of admin (Admin, administrator, etc. ), and the password is often admin, password, or simply left blank — needless to say, it’s good practice to change these during the initial setup.
Note: This short guide to default IP addresses was published a few years ago, we’ve kept on adding and updating addresses so it remains current.

Based on your local ip address, this should be your router admin ip address. This is only the case if you are in the same network as your wifi router.
Login Steps
Accessing your router admin through address will allow you to change the settings and configurations that your router software provides. Check the address you input not to confuse it with
To configure the router/ change its settings or define/change password, you need to log on to the router admin. Enter 192. 1 into your browser’s address bar (URL bar).
If you receive an error, then 192. l. l is not the router’s IP address. Type it again without the help of the autocomplete. Sometimes it might mislead you. You can also find tips on how to identify your router’s IP address in this article.
If you have forgotten your username and password, you can follow these instructions to recover them. If you haven’t changed the default username and password that came with the router, you can consult our default router usernames and passwords list.
Troubleshooting 192. 1 or 192. l
Connection
Make sure the router is connected to your computer or other devices via ethernet cable or WiFi. You should check all the lights of your router: the Power light, the Internet light, WI-FI light and Ethernet lights.
Reboot
If the router is connected to a device, then reboot the device. For this, first, unplug the router and modem and replug both, after a few moments, one by one. Wait for two minutes to check again.
Firewalls
If you are behind any firewall, it is important to disable the same because sometimes a router might be unable to access the internet on account of the conflict with the firewall settings.
192. l
Try to access router console through the browser by typing the router’s IP in the address bar of the browser. The address is 192. 1 and not 192. If these measures do not help, you can reset the router to factory settings by pressing the reset button on the router.
192. 1 IP Address And How To Use It
Are you using your router to its full ability? If you’ve been a regular internet user, you might have at some point come across a numerical representation like 192. This article explains what 192. 1 is and serves as a basic guide on how to harness it while accessing the internet.
What is 192. 1?
You can call it an online address. Each device connected to the internet is supposed to have a unique address, which will enable effective exchange of data between the device and the rest of the digital world. This is similar to the unique postal address/email/ telephone number that we each have to exchange communication.
On the internet, this address is known as the Internet Protocol (IP) address. In a typical home network, the router will assign an IP address to each device connected to it. It has its own IP too (router IP). A specific range of IP addresses has been reserved for private networks such as homes, Local Area Networks (LAN)/Wireless Area Networks (WAN) within an enterprise and so on. These IP addresses cannot be assigned to a publicly accessible website (internet sites). These ranges are:
192. 0. 0 – 192. 255. 255172. 16. 0-172. 31. 25510. 0- 10. 255
The IP address always contains a set of 4 numbers ranging between 0 and 255. There are 2 parts to the address; ‘Network Id’, which is the first three numbers in the IP address and the device id which is the fourth number.
So, for example in 192. 20, the network id is 192. 1 and the device id is the last number 20. If you have multiple devices connected on your home network, they all will have the first three digits common, signifying their existence on the same network, while the fourth number will be different, which will indicate their unique identity. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) configured on the routers enables them to automatically assign a unique IP to each device.
Other than the private address for itself and its devices, there also exists a public address for a network/router. All the devices on a given network share a common public address that is visible to the external network.
The router translates private address to a public address while communicating with an external network and converts public address to private when communicating back with the devices within its network. This process is called Network Address Translation (NAT).
Popular with Linksys, D-link, Asus, Netgear, TP-Link
Out of the possible range of addresses available for the home network, 192. 1 has been conventionally assigned by most manufacturers as the router IP, making it the default gateway or access point through which devices on the network communicate and connect with the rest of the world. This is why 192. 1 has been called as the default gateway. This standardization makes it easy for laypeople to keep the address in mind in order to access the administrative console of the router by typing 192. 1 into the address bar of the browser.
Most of the mainstream router manufacturers use 192. 1 as the router IP, including D-link, Asus, Netgear, Cisco, Linksys, Tp-Link, Tenda, SMC Networks, Huawei and Dell. The router always comes with a manual mentioning the specific router IP.
Getting Connected
Here are four essential steps you have to make before starting to configure the router.
Internet connection – check if the available internet connection is working or not by connecting the ethernet /ISP cable directly to a laptop or computer.
Unbox the router – Usually, the router is accompanied by a manual that mentions its default gateway and username and password. The router ideally should be placed on a higher shelf and in a central location.
Connect to the power source – Booting of the router may take some time. When the router is ready to be used, it will typically indicate a green light or as per the details in the manual.
Connect the router to the internet source: Connect the broadband cable/DSL modem/ISP gateway cable to the router’s internet port. This port usually has a different color or noticeable placement.
