How to set up Shadowsocks for Firefox on mac
Step 1. Make sure ShadowsocksX is configured correctly on Mac
1: if ShadowsocksX is not put under /Applications folder, please move it into that folder. Show Me
2: if you are using ShadowsocksX downloaded from apple store, not from our website, make sure Socks Proxy is configured correctly. Skip this step if you are using Non-App-Store version. Show Me
3: make sure ShadowsocksX is turned on.
4: make sure appropriate mode is chosen.
Step 2. Open Firefox Settings
open Firefox app, choose menu Firefox->Preferences->Network Proxy->Settings. Show Me
choose Manual proxy configuration.
choose SOCKS v5.
fill in the form: SOCKS Host: 127. 0. 1, Port: 10808 Note: this port should be the same as app socks5 port, if you change it, you should change the value here too
choose “Proxy DNS when using SOCKS v5”.
click OK to save.

It is your Chrome or Firefox installed 3rd-party proxy plugins?
Please open Settings in Chrome, Check here:
It is your Chrome or Firefox installed 3rd proxy plugins?
Nothing installed, absolutely clean Chrome, as I downloaded it from, I didn’t add/change anything.
Also, can see your attached image
Make sure you have Enabled “Enable System Proxy”, Use “PAC” in “Switch system proxy mode”, In PAC menu, Click “Update Local PAC from GFWList”, And wait update successfully message.
If Still not working, Please put this in the Chrome address bar and press ENTER:
chromenet-internals/#proxy
Please take a screenshot and upload here.
PS: It looks like this:
I didn’t have Proxyswitch Omega installed, but I just downloaded right now.
“Make sure you have Enabled “Enable System Proxy”, Use “PAC” in “Switch system proxy mode”, In PAC menu, Click “Update Local PAC from GFWList”, And wait update successfully message. ”
I did this, still the same problem
I was wondering if you can help me “distantly” mb over Teamviewer or QQ? I’d be so thankful for it, because it’s already driving me crazy
That is a bit confusing.
Looks like your Chrome or Firefox not loaded Proxy Settings from the system.
What is your Internet Connection type?
eg. PPPoE or LAN connection?
If you using PPPoE connection, Make sure your connection name is English.
Ethernet? I’m not sure, I just plugging in dorm’s cabel in my PC, then using the university’s providing connection tool, putting my account info and that’s it – i’m connected to the internet
How do I even change it, though? Cause I believe it should be show Chinese characters but it doesn’t, some “luan~ma”
Jesus, kind of complicated, no way to let Google+SS work again as before? Because I was using these two without any problem, just yesterday after I reinstalled Windows everything’s stopped working completely.
“But this issue still unable find out what happened in your system. ”
I mean, nothing happened from my side for sure: I reinstalled windows10 (format-erased everything), downloaded SS from here, put server/acc/password, etc; downloaded Chrome from official site, opened it. Literally that’s all I did so far this today, didn’t toggled on-off on system
It’s should be easy, But I don’t know why Proxy settings not working in your system with the 3rd-party browser.
In my system ( Windows 10 x64 1809 17763. 379, You can run winver to check version number) with Chrome 73. 0. 3683. 75, Everything is working correctly.
BTW, Your Windows has updated to the latest?
Yes, the same build as yours, 1809 OS Build 17763. 379 Windows 10 Pro.
Damn, so what do you think about helping me out distantly through some app (qq, teamviewer, wechat)? I even willing to pay for it just to make it work again, so frustrated
Please do not post personal contact information in here, It’s not safe.
There is some case like your issue, but all unsolve: #2068 #1853
Try this:
Exit Shadowsocks.
Delete ss_win_temp folder at current directory.
Close all browsers.
Open Registry edit ()
Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings
Delete AutoConfigURL, ProxyServer and ProxyEnable.
Open Shadowsocks.
Open Chrome or Firefox again.
I got only “ProxyEnable” optione there;
deleted it, didn’t help, either
Another test:
Right-click Chrome shortcut, Click Properties, Add this line after with a space:
–proxy-server=”socks5127. 1:1080″
eg: E:Chrome –proxy-server=”socks5127. 1:1080″
After restart Chrome, This should force chrome use proxy at 127. 1:1080.
PS: If you changed local proxy port in shadowsocks, Change 1080 to your proxy port.
am I stupid?
how about add me up in QQ: ——————–, I can in a fast way try everything you suggest and respond
can grant any bounty!
Add this line after Chrome shortcut with……
eg: “E:Chrome” –proxy-server=”socks5127. 1:1080″
Please do not leave personal contact information in here, No one can promise that person contact you is you wanted that one.
