Excluding the beginners, the other four jobs (warriors, magicians, bowmen, and thieves) have their own, unique skills. As the character makes advancements, numerous skill slots will be available. The skills won’t be available for use just by obtaining the skill book, but rather, the skills will be obtained through using SP’s earned after every level up.
Types of Skill
Skills are divided into two different categories, active and passive.
Passive Skill: Works without really doing anything special
Active Skill: Uses up MP and others to start up the skill; works for a set period of time.
Doing Quests
Lots of different quests await you in MapleStory. To do a quest, you need to first look for an NPC that provides one. The requirements for a quest can vary, but usually involves level, fame, job, and/or items. Through the quest, the character can gain items, EXP and others that directly affect your character.
There are two types of quests, one-time quest and repeatable quests. A one-time quest can only be completed once, and then it’s over. Repeatable quests can be done again even after completing it the first time. You can access quest names, quest in progress, ended quest, and quest info’s on the See Quest Info window at menu (HotKey: ESC).
NPC: Short for Non-Player Character. Not controlled by any users, but by the game system itself.
Quest: A specific task given by an NPC. If it is completed, the character is rewarded for the hard work. The character can gain items, EXP and others rewards that directly affect your character. If the character quits midway through, no reward will be given.

Town: A peaceful place where no monster resides. Characters can make different job adv. in different town. Weapon stores and potion stores are available for upgrades of equipments items, restocking of used items and sales of items. The towns are accompanied by various NPC’s to greet the characters, too.
Field: Describes all area of land that is a hunting ground. Since it doesn’t designate a particular area, it is usually labeled as a *** field, named to the nearest town.
Dungeon: A special hunting place out of the fields. Usually dungeons present more powerful monsters than the ones on the field, and so it’s a hunting place more suitable for the higher-leveled characters.
Skill: A special act that a character can pull off while hunting. Skills can be acquired through job advancements. In order to use the skills, you are required to use Skill Point to acquire different skills. More sets of skills are available on each job advancement.

SP: Short for Skill Point. Acquired after each level up, and with it, the character can acquire a skill or raise the skill level.
AP: Short for Ability Point. Acquired after each level up, and with it, the character can raise the ability of their choice. (STR, DEX, INT, LUK, MaxHP & MaxMP)
Here’s What Has Happened to MapleStory Now – Goody Feed
Remember MapleStory? It was the game most, if not all, kids played back then. And it was all we could talk and think about, especially if there’s any MapleSEA event.
We bragged about our levels, made our first boyfriend/girlfriend in the game and made plans to hang out with friends within the game. It was like Facebook, just more fun.
I can’t help but wonder, what happened to MapleStory? Is it still alive? Read on to find out more about what happened to our favourite game.
MapleStory is still alive and kicking
Image:
YES! That’s the golden question answered: the game is still alive! In fact, your cute chibi character still exists! Time to log in and relive some childhood memories, if you still remember your password, that is.
Even better call up some of your childhood buddies and ask if they’re interested in a game of MapleStory or two over the weekends. Grab a few cans of beer and set things up in a person’s house.
But don’t be shocked because just like you, the game has changed over the years.
The most important aspect of the game disappeared
The part that made MapleStory so fun for us back then was the social aspect of the game. People just logged into the game and hung around places like Henesys to chat with online friends. Sometimes, people played together so much they decided to meet IRL too.
People said MSN took over from mIRC but I prefer to think it’s MapleStory. But not anymore. In 2016, the hangout spot at Henesys was so empty you’d think everyone has quitted the game.
According to people who have kept up with the game since 2007, MapleStory seemed to have abandoned the social factor and focused on the solo aspects of the game. Party play at various places like Stronghold, Monster Park and Crimsonwood were removed, together with the family/mentor system.

Hello,
i stop playing maplestory right after they did the big bang update. and i cant even recover my account.
Anyways thats now the point, my point is maplestory still alive after all this years? i know a lot have changed.
how is the population?
Thanks,
Comments
MapleStory is still alive and in my opinion the game is doing well, but a lot of things changed in order to accomodate to the new situation. I mean that many players stopped playing and many were disappointed with how long it takes to level up, so now the game is kinda easier. You level up quite fast until level 200. The 3rd job advancement is now at level 60, and 4th at level 100. There are 2 servers: regular and Reboot. In Reboot mobs are stronger and give more exp and money, and drop equips for your class much more often than in regular servers. Also, you can purchase some useful Cash Shop items with mesos on Reboot (cubes, VIP teleport rocks,… ). There are many new classes with cool skills. I absolutely admire this game for the coolest skill animations.
The game doesn’t have as many players as before and so the game merged with EU version which had really low population with basically one empty server (Demethos). I recommend you to try the game and check yourself. You missed a lot of class revamps and updates. It is difficult to describe everything what has changed. If you join the game and have some specific questions feel free to ask. I play in EU Reboot, my character name is Cannonize.

The game is quite different. My suggestion is simple, jump in and see it for yourself. Ignore everything else, try to experience it as blind as possible.

It doesn’t hurt to install the game and give it a try, after all it’s free to do so.

i will be blunt..
no its not.
I will be honest and blunt as well. In the end it’s your choice
– Reboot server you will have an easier time acquiring items to approve your overall damage/range or dps, (With MESOS) than regular servers like Bera/Scania, etc and the other 2. ( I called this server the “easy way out sever” since they gave up yrs ago on a regular server came back to Reboot server thinking the have the best dps and facepalming the actual hard regular server workers.
– The regular servers are more of a grind, and an general like feeling of a greater accomplishment, which requires luck and patience.
Probably so

I’ve been playing on and off like you for a long time and I’ve finally come back to the game, and I can honestly say I love it again.
