The Best Dating Site VPNs | In-depth Analysis Each VPN for dating needs to have a wealth of security features to protect you and keep you safe when talking to strangers. Your privacy is of the utmost importance, which is why each service has a kill switch, which effectively kills your internet connection just in case your VPN cuts out, meaning that your true IP address and data is never leaked. ExpressVPN is the best VPN for online dating sites. It’s one of the most eye-catching services around with excellent security and privacy features, combined with fast speeds. Pricing From $6. 67 – $12. 95 Available for Windows macOS iOS Android Linux Server locations 94 countries Our ExpressVPN review really demonstrates that it’s one of the best VPN services around. The app is well-made and basically installs itself on all major operating systems, so you don’t need to be a tech genius in order to get this service up and running. A fun aspect of ExpressVPN is that it has servers in 94 different countries, meaning you’re guaranteed to have fast, reliable servers close to where you are or where you want to pretend to be. When you sign in to a VPN, simply select a server location to connect to. After that, you appear to be located in the country where the VPN server is situated. The location-masking abilities of VPNs mean that you can get around geolocation restrictions on sites. If a dating site detects your location and reports it on your profile, you can make it say that you are in another country. This is a great feature if you are planning to travel and want to organize dates in your destination before you fly, so you can start meeting people as soon as you arrive. Given that ExpressVPN is so good, you might wonder why this review bothers to check out other services as alternatives. The one problem with ExpressVPN is that it is expensive. If you aren’t prepared to pay for all those features, checking out cheaper alternatives that have most of the facilities you need is a logical strategy. Why not check it out, risk-free using Express’ 30-day money-back guarantee? NordVPN is among the gold-standard of VPNs – stopping snoopers in their tracks! Pricing From $4. 13 – $11. 95 Available for Windows macOS iOS Android Linux Server locations 59 countries NordVPN is a Panama-based provider that has servers in over 60 countries, perfect for protecting your data when dating anywhere in the world. Fortunately, NordVPN won’t burn a hole in your pocket with its cheap pricing and its speedy servers are sure to keep you connected, no matter who you’re talking to. Thankfully, NordVPN recognizes that online dating no longer confined to the computer, allowing you to protect up to six devices simultaneously across all major platforms. The VPN is completely locked down with military-grade OpenVPN encryption and a zero-knowledge policy that retains absolutely no identifiable logs on you. And if you’re not happy with the service, you can get a refund with NordVPN’s 30-day money-back guarantee. CyberGhost is an easy to use VPN for online dating sites. It’s accessible for beginners, offering a slick experience on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. Pricing From $2. 25 – $12. 99 Tested with Tinder Plenty of Fish OkCupid EHarmony Available for Windows macOS iOS Android Linux Server locations 112 countries If you are serious about dating, you know that image is everything – you’ve got to kick it up a notch. You can’t risk being seen in your tatty jeans with your hair unkempt, in case you bump into someone who could be the one. You’ve got to brush up your looks and make sure that everything you do and say is adorable and endearing. You need CyberGhost, or at least to try it out with its unprecedented 45-day money-back guarantee on subscriptions longer than one month. When reviewing CyberGhost, we quickly realized it’s probably the funkiest, trendiest VPN app around. It looks good. Even the installer will make you laugh. The VPN’s user interface is very well organized, and you get a pre-screen that asks you what your priorities are. This feature then adjusts all the settings of the VPN service to optimize the session to meet your goals. Things that look good don’t always work well. This is not the case with CyberGhost. This VPN is all about style, but with a heavy lump of substance behind the scenes. Despite being cool and well organized, CyberGhost is one of the cheapest VPN services on this list. However, if you still don’t like the idea of paying next to nothing for a top-quality VPN service, how about getting it for free? There is a free version of CyberGhost that is almost as good as the ridiculously cheap paid version, albeit a little limited. Happy dating! PIA is the most secure VPN for online dating on our list. It offers excellent security features to keep you safe while online dating. 00 – $12. 00 Tested with Tinder Plenty of Fish OkCupid EHarmony Available for Windows macOS iOS Android Linux Server locations 74 countries Private Internet Access (PIA) is a US-based VPN provider that keeps zero logs, a claim it has proven in court on several different occasions. The VPN was recently acquired by Kape Technologies – a cybersec firm based in London whose primary aim is to help consumers gain protection online. PIA VPN has servers in 47 different countries around the world, it provides strong OpenVPN encryption, and is one of the most popular VPN services among Reddit users. It also has live chat support and access to Netflix US. PIA’s strong commitment to online privacy makes it a superb choice for keeping you safe and secure while searching for the love of your life on your online dating site of choice. On top of that, you can connect up to ten devices simultaneously and use the service to help block trackers and malware, all on apps that are easy to use and highly-customizable to your specific needs. Surfshark is the cheapest VPN for PoF and other dating sites, but it scores major points with online daters thanks to its excellent security and awesome features. 49 – $12. 95 Tested with Tinder Plenty of Fish OkCupid EHarmony Available for Windows macOS iOS Android Linux Server locations 63 countries Surfshark is a relatively new provider that is based in the British Virgin Islands, collects no-logs, offers excellent technical security, along with a bunch of other useful features, and superb 24/7 live chat support. This service is also an incredible value for your money considering all the awesome features you get, meaning you’ll save a bunch and you’ll have that much more available to spend on impressing your date once you score that ever-important first date. Why Use a VPN for Online Dating apps? The two main considerations for using a VPN with dating sites are controlling access to your personal information and getting access to sites that you are blocked from. Since you are looking for someone to date or marry on an online dating site, you might wonder why you would want to use a VPN. It might seem that hiding information this way would make you seem more like a stalker than a potential partner. But most people who use online dating sites realize that there are creeps out there who might misuse your information. People choose to use aliases and phony addresses, as well as take other steps to make sure they are not totally exposed to just anyone. The only time you should really be sharing your true information is when you meet someone you actually trust. A dating site VPN fits into this theme by hiding your connection information, making you even more secure. Using a high-quality VPN with dating apps, like the ones we list here, can protect important and sensitive details about you. This makes things much more difficult for creeps trying to use your information for their own nefarious purposes. It’s extremely important to take the necessary precautions when taking the plunge into the world of online dating. Unblocking Online Dating Sites As well as keeping you secure, a VPN can also enable you to unblock dating apps like POF, Match, Bumble, Badoo, and other dating sites that are blocked in your country for whatever the reason may be. Some governments or other groups block access to dating sites for various reasons and using such a site might even be illegal where you are. If you still want access to dating sites in places like that, you need to exercise extreme care. Using a VPN for dating site access is the best way to protect yourself. A super-secure VPN that can find its way around blocks or makes it appear like you are located somewhere else can get you the access you want. How to unblock a dating site with a VPN To access a dating site if it’s blocked, all you have to do is follow the steps below. Choose a VPN service from the list above, such as ExpressVPN and subscribe. Install the software and sign in. Pick a VPN server in a country that doesn’t block the service you want (The US or UK is often a safe choice). Navigate to your chosen dating website. That’s it! Provided you are properly connected and the server isn’t located in a country that blocks access to dating sites, you should be able to connect. Can you get a free VPN for online dating? You might be tempted to try to save some money using one of the free VPNs out there, but we advise against it. Free VPN services have a reputation for using low-quality encryption, and “leaking” user data directly to the internet in certain cases. Some of them will even sell your data! If you really want to protect yourself, one of our best VPNs for dating sites is definitely the way to go. Conclusion Internet dating sites can be a great way to find romance. But as with all other online activities, you need to take steps to protect yourself. Whether you are protecting your privacy from busybodies on the site, hackers trying to steal information, or a government that doesn’t want its subjects finding love in cyberspace, you will be safer with a dating site VPN. 94 you get an impressively fully-featured VPN with decent speeds.

MSN used to post the IP at the bottom of a message several years ago and through a free internet program, I found where a ton of spam e mail was coming from.
Now, MSN does not provide these numbers.
I read that some people ghave found were a person actually lives or at least the actual country. That is waht i seek. I am NOT trying to find a person’s actual home but i would like to know if a person writes me if they are even in the country they claim.
So is there a way or a program that is either free or commerical that pulls out the IP address?

You make a good point about IP addresses but in the end if someone wants to hide or change their location all they have to use is a proxy server located in the country they want.
It’s not easy to find ip addresses when chatting since, with most chat programs (Yahoo, MSN, etc.. ) you actually connect to the chatting servers and all information passes through them instead of directly connecting to the person you are actually chatting with.
You probably already know this but if you do find the ip address of the person you are chatting with you can use web sites like this:
to find the location of the person.
They don’t even need to go through a proxy server. They use something called IP tunneling software. It’s probably what spam posters use when they’re banned from messageboards so they can keep posting.

Swipers & Swingers: Intellectual Property of Online Dating

Swipers & Swingers: Intellectual Property of Online Dating

We are two very fortunate fellas. We’ve both been married to our fabulous wives since the ‘70s, way before Senator Al Gore created the internet (he didn’t, really). Our dating lives and marriages also precede the advent of online dating services like (launched in 1995) and took place before online dating apps were on the smartphone in your pocket. We’re so old and happily married that we don’t even know what the words “Ashley Madison” mean. Although neither of us has been a “player” in the online dating scene, that doesn’t mean we can’t write about it.
While online dating hasn’t touched everyone, it’s getting there. According to (this seemed like a better resource for this topic than Wikipedia), almost 50 million people have tried online dating, 17% of the couples who married in 2017 met via an online dating site and the online dating industry’s annual revenue is about 1. 8 billion dollars. However, not all the news is rosy about online dating. Another source we consulted – – reports that over half of online users lie on their dating profile and over ten percent of the people using online dating services are already married.
While we don’t know swipe left from swipe right, we do know about intellectual property. Those involved in creating and running online dating app businesses own intellectual property. In fact, intellectual property is very important to them, just as it is to every business (and to every one of your clients).
TRADEMARKS
Let’s start with the obvious – online dating brands. An online dating app is only successful if it has a lot of eyes on it, so having a distinctive, memorable and clever brand is crucial. Here are several examples of online dating app brands – some you’ll know and some you probably won’t: Tinder, Jdate, Coffee Meets Bagel, Hinge, Match. com, Bumble, Her, eHarmony, BeNaughty, Christian Mingle, Plenty of Fish (POF), Grindr, and Zoosk.
From a trademark strength perspective, these marks are pretty good, ranging from fanciful (Zoosk) to arbitrary (Hinge and Tinder) to suggestive (BeNaughty and). The more distinctive the mark, the easier it is to protect and police. Of course, sometimes using a descriptive mark does work best, such as when you’re targeting a very specific audience. For example, these two dating service brands tell you right away what you might be in for when seeking a companion: (1) (with the tag line, “Set Phasers To Stunning”) and (2) Clown Dating (with the tagline, “Everybody loves a clown…let a clown love you”).
COPYRIGHTS
An online dating profile is nothing unless a user fills it with content such as photos and personal information. Copyright protects such originally created content, but what happens to the content once you allow the profile to go public? It depends on the “Terms of Service” of the app being used. For example, Tinder’s Terms of Service states: “By creating an account, you grant Tinder a worldwide, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, right and license to store, use, copy, display, reproduce, adapt, edit, publish, modify and distribute information… you post, upload or display or otherwise make available…. ” In other words, you pretty much give up any control of your copyright rights in your posted content, at least as to what Tinder might want to do with it.
TRADE SECRETS
Online dating services are all about sharing information right, so where does trade secret protection enter the equation? Well, trade secret protection is certainly not available for the actual content being shared (it’s just “Out There! ” as your grandfather might say), but like every business, trade secret protection is very valuable for online dating businesses. Typical confidential business information is covered, of course, such as financials, salaries, product development and marketing plans, etc., but perhaps most valuable is simply the online dating app’s account/user/ player list and associated contact information and demographics. Many businesses are acquired simply to acquire its customer list, and we expect that an online dating service would be no different in that regard.
PATENTS
According to the U. S. Supreme Court (Alice v. CLB Bank, 2014), an abstract idea is not eligible for U. patent protection simply because it is implemented on a computer. The matching of people based on mutually- expressed common interests (and computer-driven methods of doing so) seem like “abstract ideas” to us, but remarkably the U. Patent Office is still issuing patents of this type (see Match Group’s 2019 U. Pat. 10, 203, 854) and patent litigation between online dating services continues (see Match Group vs. Bumble Trading).
As with many emerging industries, there are corporate consolidations. Sparks Networks now owns Jdate, Christian Mingle and other online dating services. Match Group owns Tinder, Hinge, and others, and some suggest that Match Group’s patent infringement action against Bumble Trading is just part of Match Group’s bigger plan to drive an acquisition of Bumble by Tinder.
