Ip Address Discord
How To Get Someone’s IP From Discord [2021] – PC Strike
Chatting on Discord while playing a co-op game with your friends is always a fun experience.
However, in some games, such as Minecraft, to connect to a friend’s server, you will need their IP address.
If you aren’t particularly tech-savvy, you might not know how to find their IP address. This is common and it’s why many people are looking for ways to find someone’s IP on Discord, or at least through it.
To help you out, we have done all the necessary in-depth research in order to determine whether or not it is possible to obtain an IP address via Discord.
Discord Is Too Secure
The short answer to this question is no.
It is not possible to obtain someone’s IP address via Discord. This is because this application utilizes TLS (Transport Layer Security) and other techniques to protect users from scammers and hackers.
The fact that Discord hosts its own servers adds another layer of protection.
If you need your friend’s IP address, you won’t be able to simply get it through Discord. On the other hand, you don’t need to worry that somebody is going to hack into your computer via Discord.
It is not going to happen.
You shouldn’t say never but the risk is so low that it’s not something you should worry about.
Getting The IP Of Someone Else
Just because you can’t obtain an IP address through Discord, this doesn’t mean you should give up on the idea of playing a co-op game with your friend.
There is a way!
To get your friend’s IP address, you can use a third-party website that automatically detects a computer’s public IP address.
To do this, you will usually need your friend’s help, depending on whether you have your own website or not.
All you need to do is send them the link, then they can open it, copy their IP address, and send it to you on Discord.
If you own a website, be aware that you can log an IP that visits a particular, hidden URL, and you can do this without their consent.
You can even hide the link by using a URL shortener such as Bitly.

Is IP Grabbing Illegal? (All Questions Answered) – SmartyDNS
Your IP address is how you communicate with the Internet. Without it, that wouldn’t be possible.
Since it’s so important, you have to wonder – is IP grabbing illegal? Is it illegal to track an IP address?
We’ll answer those questions (and more) in this quick five-minute article.
Is IP Grabbing Illegal – Yes or No?
First, what is IP grabbing?
Well, it’s when someone uses a third-party service to “grab” your IP address. For example, they might use Grabify. It lets them create a link which they can send to you. If you access it, they’ll be able to see your IP address (alongside other information) on their end, like this:
If they click “More Info” on the right, they can even see your local IP address – the one your device uses on your network.
So is IP grabbing illegal?
Nope. There’s no specific law preventing someone from targeting you with an IP grabbing tool. Your IP address is pretty much public information at this point – just like your street address or phone number.
However, what someone does with your IP address can become illegal.
Here’s When IP Grabbing Is Against the Law
When the person grabbing it decides to DDoS you (basically, force you offline with cyber attacks). They can target your network with a DDoS attack because they know your IP address. In most places, doing this is illegal. DoS attacks, however, might not always be illegal because they’re weaker than DDoS attacks. If someone targets you with them constantly, though, you can contact the the person who grabbed your IP address tries using it to remotely hack your computer. Normally, an IP address isn’t enough to do that, but some skilled hackers could abuse Shared Resources to perform such a cyber attack. They could also use it to scan for open ports, which they then try to exploit to take over your someone uses IP grabbing to target you with phishing attacks. For example, they use it to find who your ISP is, and then they target them with phishing and vishing attacks.
Is IP Tracking Illegal?
It sounds like it should be, but it normally isn’t. It’s how websites keep track of their users, and how they display ads on the Internet. Businesses also use it for all sorts of B2B purposes (marketing, delivering services, analytics, etc. ).
As long as they meet any legal data processing requirements (like the GDPR), there are no conflicts with the law.
Is It Illegal for an Individual to Track Your IP Address?
Again, not really. They can freely use services like IP Logger or IP Tracker to keep tabs on your IP address. There’s no specific law against that.
But if they track your IP address for illegal purposes (harassment, stalking, DDoS-ing, cyber attacks, etc. ), it obviously goes against the law.
Should You Hide Your IP Address?
That’s up to you.
If you want to enjoy more privacy, and not have websites and random people track it, you should definitely do it. The same goes if you don’t want hackers abusing it or using it to DDoS you.
Plus, you get to enjoy other perks if you hide your IP address:
The ability to prevent anyone from finding out what country and city you are from + who your ISP is and what your ZIP code can bypass geo-restrictions and unblock different websites and online services – like Netflix or Pandora can also bypass firewalls at work and school. Also, you can get around government censorship since it also relies on firewalls to block hiding your IP address, you make it much harder for advertisers to track your online movements and spam you with personalized might be able to bypass geographical price discrimination. That’s when sites display different prices based on your geo-location. Hiding your IP address means websites won’t be able to see your geo-location rrenting becomes safer because wannabe hackers, lawyers, and copyright trolls can’t see your IP address in the swarm risk of a cybercriminal logging it and selling it on the dark bans won’t stop you from gaming online or posting on forums.
How Can You Hide Your IP Address?
These are the most convenient ways to do it:
1. Use a VPN
This is an online service that masks your IP address and encrypts your traffic. Here’s how the process works:
You download and install a VPN app on your use the app to connect to a VPN app and the server establish a secure connection between data that passes through that connection is encrypted end-to-end (only the client and server can encrypt/decrypt it) you visit a website, your connection requests go to it through the VPN website receives the requests from the VPN server, so it only sees the server’s IP else who tries looking up your IP address will also only see the server’s address.
Overall, a VPN is a great way to protect your privacy. Plus, by encrypting your traffic, it makes sure that:
Hackers can’t abuse vulnerable WiFi networks to monitor your and surveillance agencies can’t spy on your online can’t throttle your bandwidth anymore.

2. Use a Proxy
A proxy server works similar to a VPN – it intercepts your connection requests to the web, and forwards them on your behalf. So any site you visit will only see the proxy server’s IP address.
However, unlike a VPN, proxies don’t offer powerful encryption. Sometimes, they don’t offer any at all.
So you get some privacy by hiding your IP address, but your traffic might not be secure. Also, if you use a free proxy that’s run by a malicious actor, they could log your data.
Generally, you should only use a proxy if you need to unblock a web page. If you need security on top of that, use a VPN. Instead of getting separate services, consider using a VPN whose servers double as proxies. It’s much cheaper.
3. Use Mobile Data or Switch WiFi Networks
If you’re on your mobile and want to change your IP address realf fast, try switching from WiFi data to mobile data.
You’ll use your mobile provider’s network instead of your WiFi network’s ISP, so you’ll get a different IP address.
What if you have a limited mobile data plan and normally use WiFi, though?
In that case, you can switch WiFi networks to change your IP address.
4. Ask Your ISP to Change It
They assigned you your current IP address, so you can ask them to change it. Maybe see if they can offer a dynamic IP address too (one that changes at regular intervals).
If you already have a dynamic IP address, you can usually change it by restarting your router.
Can You Hide Your IP Address with Tor?
Yes, you can do that. Just like a VPN, your connections will go to the Internet through a server. So everybody will see the IP address of the Tor server you’re using.
But we have to warn you – Tor has had and continues to have issues with IP leaks:
In 2017, the TorMoil issue leaked users’ IP might leak your IP address when you try to open Windows DRM rrent clients can sometimes leak your IP address. Certain file types (like PDFs) can bypass proxy settings, causing Tor to leak your IP address.
Besides that, you’ll also get pretty slow speeds because there are only around 6, 000 servers for over two million users.
Is IP Grabbing Illegal? The Bottom Line
Not unless the person grabbing your IP address wants to use it to do something illegal – like DDoS-ing you or hacking into your computer.
For normal purposes, IP grabbing (and tracking) is generally legal. If you’re worried it violates your privacy, use a VPN to hide your IP address. It’s the easiest and most convenient way to do it. If you know other methods to mask your IP address (other than the ones we already mentioned), go ahead and tell us about them in the comments.

Can You IP Ban On Discord? (Everything To Know) – The Cold Wire
You are here: Home / Cold Hard Facts / Can You IP Ban On Discord? (Everything To Know)
Those who have ever run a Discord server before know how useful the ability to ban a person is.
Not everyone on the internet is a good or even decent person.
Sometimes, you need to ban someone in order to keep the rest of your server members safe.
The ability to IP ban someone can help ensure that they aren’t coming back to your server.
Can You IP Ban On Discord?
Yes, you can IP ban someone on Discord.
Every time you ban someone, it is automatically an IP ban.
An IP ban is different from typical bans and is a much firmer way of removing a person, even if they try to access your server from another account.
Your IP address is like your online name badge that allows the application or website you are using to know who you are and what information has been sent between your device and the server you have joined.
When someone is banned from a server or website normally, the server will ban the user’s account.
The problem with this type of ban is that it doesn’t stop someone from making another account and rejoining the server.
An IP ban solves that problem.
When you are IP banned, it means that the server is banning you by your IP address.
This means that they are banning you from your internet access, device, and location.
All bans on Discord are IP bans.
Discord knows how vicious and determined people can be.
If they’re determined enough, they’ll make as many accounts as necessary in order to achieve whatever terrible goal they have in mind.
Discord bans people not only by their IP address but by their phone number instead.
Discord will ask for your phone number so they have something solid to identify you by.
While VPN services are incredibly helpful, they can be used to get around IP bans.
However, it is important to note that there are even more severe punishments for those who use a VPN to get around an IP ban on Discord.
It will result in immediate termination of your account and a permanent ban from the site.
Discord is heavy-handed towards those who break the Terms of Service.
The Different Types Of Bans On Discord
For Discord server owners, you only have two types of bans you can use on someone who breaks the rules of your server.
For server moderators, you can kick a person out of your server, or you can ban them from your server.
Kicking a person out of your service will boot them out temporarily, but they may join again if they try.
Banning someone will remove them from the server and ban their account.
It will also ban their IP address and phone number from the server.
A banned user cannot return to a server.
The first type of ban is a warning.
A user will receive a direct message from Discord Trust and Safety about their violation.
It will outline what the violation was and inform them that future violations will result in more severe punishments.
The second level of banning is the API ban.
An API ban will partially ban someone from the server.
This means they can still read messages, but won’t be able to react to comments, reply, or type their own messages.
This typically only lasts for an hour to an hour and a half.
The third ban a person can receive from Discord is a temporary ban.
Temporary bans last for various amounts of time, depending on the violation.
The user can’t use Discord in any fashion during this time.
The fourth level of banning is account termination.
The account will be temporarily disabled until it has been wiped from the system.
However, people can easily get around account termination by creating a new account.
The harshest ban a user can receive from Discord is a permanent ban.
The person will be completely blocked from Discord and any of their services.
They won’t be able to make an account or rejoin servers.
Can You Bypass An IP Ban On Discord?
Yes, you can get around an IP ban on Discord, but it is against the Terms of Service.
According to Discord’s Terms of Service, they will not tolerate “circumventing tools that enable users to protect themselves and/or repeatedly targeting a user with unwanted friend requests or messages…
Do not disguise yourself in an attempt to contact someone who has blocked you. ”
Even if you have a VPN, Discord can figure out you’re the same person by your mannerisms.
If you get IP banned from a server because you are harassing people then make a new account to trick the Discord’s server and you go right back to harassing people, they’re going to know who is using that account.
Discord isn’t blind to the flaws in their system.
If they catch you, they will immediately terminate your account.
This is especially true if you go back to the same server to commit the same violations.
Discord’s hardware may be easy to fool, but don’t expect Discord management to be the same way.
It is also important to bear in mind that just because you are banned from one server does not mean you are banned from all servers.
Unless you receive your ban directly from Discord, you can still join other servers.
There are two ways of getting around the IP ban from Discord.
The first is to use a VPN.
VPN stands for Virtual Private Network.
VPNs will hide your IP address, which allows you to safely search the internet.
A VPN will also secure and encrypt your connections.
You can also download a VPN onto your phone and then freshly download the Discord app.
You will want to clear all previous data from Discord and turn on your VPN before installing or reinstalling Discord.
What To Do If You Are Banned From A Discord Server
While using Discord, you may come across moderators who misuse the abilities they have on Discord.
There are a few steps you can take to rejoin a Discord server if you still want to be a part of it after being banned.
The first thing you should do if you are banned from a Discord server is to consider what could have happened that caused you to get banned.
When joining a server, you should always read over the rules that the owner of the Discord server has outlined.
Typically, they will be in their own separate chat room where you may not be able to comment.
If the rules are not posted anywhere, you can always tag moderators to ask for the list of rules.
You can tag moderators by tagging them with their particular tag name or you can use “@moderator” to contact all mods.
They won’t mind you tagging them as long as you are being polite.
You should also look over Discord’s Terms of Services to figure out if you have violated it in one way or another.
You can read through Discord’s Community Guidelines to see if your actions fit the description of violating behavior.
The second step is to directly message one of the moderators from a Discord server.
Things will go the most smoothly if you are polite, even if you don’t end up getting what you want out of the situation.
In your message to the moderator, you can ask what you did wrong and apologize for any behavior.
Even if you unintentionally broke a rule, it is best to apologize.
After you’ve figured out what went wrong and you’ve apologized, you can ask to rejoin the server.
Most likely, it won’t be up to just that one moderator, but rather the collective group of moderators.
How To Unban A User On Discord
Sometimes, all a person needs to change their behavior is separation.
It’s important to remember that we are all human and all make mistakes.
Making mistakes is just another way a person can learn and grow.
If you have seen growth in a person whom you had previously banned on the server, then you may be considering allowing them to rejoin.
However, with an IP ban hanging above their heads, there isn’t a way to let them back without unbanning them.
First, click the right-side tab that has the name and list of users on the Discord server.
Then click the arrow pointing down that is direct across from your server’s name.
If you’re on mobile, you will select the three vertical dots directly across from the server’s name.
Once in this menu, choose “Server Settings”, which will have a gear next to it.
In the server settings, choose bans.
It will be the last option in white and right above “Delete Server”.
This will show you a list of banned users.
The list will have its own search bar.
You can scroll through the list or use the search bar to find the person whom you want to unban.
When clicking their name, you will have a pop-up asking if you wish to revoke your ban.
By selecting “done”, you will remove the ban from that account.
Unbanning someone is easier than cleaning up the aftermath of whatever mess someone makes.
Although it may not be fun for the person getting banned to have to go through the process of being unbanned, it is vastly better than allowing any harmful or even illegal activity to happen on your server.
If you ever see something bad, you should speak to the proper authorities or even Discord.
How To Become A Moderator On Discord
Moderators are chosen mainly by the owner of the server.
Whether you may become a moderator for a particular server or not is almost entirely based on the server owner’s feelings towards you.
Any member of a Discord server can become a moderator.
The best moderators are mature, patient, good listeners, and generally kind.
These qualities are especially important because, in a server, you are interacting with a lot of different people.
Having excellent people skills is necessary for becoming a moderator.
Maturity is important because of the power that moderators hold.
Typically, the only person with more power is the Discord server owner themselves.
The owner of the server needs to be able to trust that you won’t use your newfound capabilities as a moderator to abuse the system or other members.
Patience is another important trait of a good moderator.
A patient moderator won’t make rash decisions and is slow to anger, even in the face of adversity.
Patience also allows for more clear-headed decision-making.
As a moderator, you may find yourself trying to end a lot of fights within the server.
People, even with common interests and friends, are bound to argue at one point or another.
Your job as a moderator is to make sure that things don’t get too heated, and if they do, you need to be able to deescalate the situation.
If the fighting members can’t seem to calm down, you may have to time them out for a little bit.
Being a good listener comes into play when you need to figure out who did things that were not in accordance with your server’s rules.
For example, if during a debate, one member calls another member a name, you may need to speak to the member or, in extreme cases, remove them.
How To Make A Discord Server Member A Mod
Moderator is a common role that Discord server owners can create for their servers.
Moderators are often the ones who help when problems arise.
They’re incredible tools to help keep your server safe and inviting.
If you want moderators for your server, you will need to create the role.
Each role you create has different abilities which are based on your personal preferences.
The abilities you give to your moderators are up to you.
Most moderators have the ability to mute a member, move members, and sometimes kick or ban members.
It is best to only allow moderators to kick or ban people if you intend to only allow people you deeply trust to be your moderators.
To change a member’s role, go into your server’s settings by clicking the downward arrow or three vertical dots across from your server name.
Scroll down to the user management section and click members.
Press the name of the person you want to make a moderator and check the box next to “mod” or “moderator”.
You should avoid giving administrative powers to moderators because it gives too much control over what moderators can change about a server.
Administrative powers should be reserved only for the owner or owners of a server.
As a new server owner, you will want to be cautious of whom you give the title of the moderator to.
There are many cases of moderators misusing their powers by banning people without solid reasoning or blackmailing fellow members.
It is important to listen to your members when they claim that the moderators aren’t doing a proper job or are abusing their position.
Remember that you can always change a moderator’s role back to a member if you need to.
