Action Blocked Instagram: Final Thoughts
The Instagram Action Blocked is an error you may receive when you follow, like, or comment on Instagram. Action blocks appear when you exceed hourly or daily action limits or when Instagram’s anti-spam algorithm detects that the actions are automated.
Instagram blocks render you unable to perform actions on your IG account: “follow” other accounts, like or comment under the pictures and send direct messages.
Action blocks, among instagram shadowban, are another way for Instagram to safeguard the platform from abuse.
Instagram action blocks are temporary – not permanent. Blocks can last anywhere from a day to over a week.
In most cases, they disappear within 48 hours or after taking certain steps (about which you can read later in this article).
In some situations, you might see a notification from Instagram with a specific expiration date when the action block will be taken down.
However, Instagram might not reveal how long you will be blocked on Instagram to prevent you from exploiting it.
You are likely to receive this message when:
trying to follow a lot of profiles in a short timeframe
trying to like a lot of pictures in a short period of time
you’ve been commenting the same thing under too many pictures
your actions appear to be automated with a bot
you have been using 3rd party app to complete certain actions on Instagram
So why Instagram would want to block your activities even if you are genuinely trying to, without relying on apps or bots?
Over the years, Instagram has been cracking down on “follow for follow” abuse and the high amount of likes and comment activity happening on their platform.
Instagram is aware that mentioned actions work very well in growing Instagram accounts.
These methods were used heavily in the early days of Instagram as an effective means of building traction and user retention on the platform.
But as Instagram matured and grew to be one of the biggest social networks on the planet, we can certainly be sure the focus has shifted.
So why is Instagram trying to restrict such activities, sacrificing its own user’s experience?
The answer is… money.
Instagram’s number one goal is to maximize revenue from ads.
If you want to increase your number of followers on Instagram, the company wants you to spend money on their ads rather than growing your followers manually or with the help of a third-party app or service.
In the last few years, Facebook has been investing its resources heavily into building an advertising platform on Instagram.
Advertising remains the main lifeblood of the service and this comes as no surprise, Facebook is trying to protect their revenue.
By the fiscal year 2020, Instagram accounted for $23 billion, or 27 percent, of Facebook’s ad sales, according to a report done by analyst Youssef Squali.
However, many users are not happy with Instagram’s activity blocks and a new emphasis on ads because they are now forced to pay more for advertising to make up for the loss of organic reach, which is dwindling every year.
NO, you don’t risk a ban if you:
do all the activity manually and just ended up doing too many actions
use organic Instagram service or social media manager to grow your account manually
YES, there is a moderate to high risk of getting your account banned if:
you purchased bulk followers
you use bots, software solutions that promise follower growth
Since the Instagram block is not going to stay on your IG account forever, there are ways to make your Instagram account unblocked.
The most important is: if you participate in any type of automation, immediately stop these activities.
Here are known ways to get your Instagram unblocked:
stop running bot/software solutions (if you do)
give yourself a break from “follow” and “like” activities for at least 72 hours
change your IP address
link your Instagram account with Facebook
switch devices
report action block to Instagram
Let’s go into more details for each method.
1. Stop automation
If you are running any third-party app or bot to automate your Instagram—stop it. Instagram is aware of the bot activity, which, after many Instagram updates introduced to the app algorithm, is easier to detect nowadays.
Either invest the time to grow your account manually or delegate it to a dedicated growth service that does not rely on software solutions, keeping your account safe and sound.
2. Take a break
Since overdoing activity on your Instagram account is the most common reason why you would receive the “Action Blocked” message, it might be a good idea to take a break from following, liking, and commenting, in order to avoid seeing the unwelcome Instagram error.
We recommend stopping all activities for at least 72 hours although in some cases, the block might last longer, up to 5-7 days.
3. Change your IP address
Try to change your IP address. If you are currently on your WiFi, switch to a mobile network (4G/5G). If you are using a data plan already, select your home WiFi instead.
Likely, Instagram flagged or banned your home or work IP, so switching the source of Internet connection, might help to unblock actions on Instagram.
4. Link Instagram with Facebook Page
If you haven’t done so yet, try to connect your personal or business Instagram account with your or your brand’s Facebook account.
This way, you are showing Instagram more credibility that indeed you are a real person using an account and not a bot.
Often, Instagram accounts that were machine-made or are machine-maintained are not associated with any Facebook accounts, and Instagram might see it as a trust issue.
See how to link your Instagram with Facebook guide to learn how to do it efficiently.
5. Switch devices
If everything above fails and you are still experiencing Instagram action block, as a last resort option you might simply try to change the device you are logging in to your Instagram account.
6. Report it to Instagram
Something I wouldn’t exclude is reaching out to Instagram support and reporting the issue.
Report the problem and send to their support email address a message that you don’t see the reason why your activities are being restricted.
In certain situations, your action block could be simply a glitch, making you one of many unfortunate users who are taking the hit.
Once you managed to get your Instagram unblocked, the best is to not let the block happen in the first place.
As Instagram’s algorithm constantly changes with each update, both the causes why you are getting blocked and the ways to avoid might change.
However, as of today, there are few confirmed ways to prevent getting “Action Blocked” on Instagram:
1. Don’t use automation
If you have been using third-party apps available on AppStore or Google play as well as bots you found online, make sure to stop using them and instead, use only organic service or social media agency where each action is completed manually, not automatically.
This way, it will look just like you would do it yourself.
2. Don’t complete too many actions
If you are on a follow or like spree, slow down.
Although it might be tempting to do many actions at once, this way you are more likely to get your actions blocked on Instagram.
We hope this article was helpful and gave you few ideas about the reasons you might be getting blocked on Instagram.
We know how frustrating it can be to run into issues with your social media profile you poured so much time and energy into.
Having an Instagram action block is like having a car and being unable to drive it.
However, with a bit of planning and careful selection of activities as well as third-party apps you are going to use, you can enjoy the steady and safe growth of your Instagram account.

1. What is Action block in Instagram?
Action blocked on Instagram meaning you’re taking too many action such as following too many people at once or unfollowing too many people once or even liking too many people at once and you’d get an action blocked which starting from 24-hour all the day to 24 days and this depends on how IG update their rules.
2. Consequences of Instagram Action Blocked.
There are consequences to this the first action blocked can be easy to fix and very controllable and it’s all start with.
2. 1 Temporarily Instagram Actions Blocked – First Stage.
This temporarily IG action block is the most common block by Instagram and it’s first stage that IG would put your IG account in jail for the next 24-hours.

When you recover from the first block, if you continue to manipulate the IG platform by using automation tools or bot, they’ll escalate your IG action blocked to the next stage which is,
2. 3. Avoid Permanent Instagram Ban.
The first stage of blocking is just “temporarily block” without the date its last which for 24 hours.
By looking at the red box, it’s date given that Instagram would give you.
It could start from 3-day
7-day
24-day
to a potential permanent ban on Instagram.
Have a look at this is from a Reddit threat and yes, I personally haven’t experienced this and don’t want to be apart of the action blocked.
That 24-day action blocked happen when you keep making the mistakes below, you know what worst? Even if you have a 7-day blocked, it’s already killing your page engagement.
3. Why You’re Getting Instagram Action Blocked?
Depends what types of actions you’re manipulating the most, Instagram would give you different types of action blocked duration but it’s first of all.
3. 1. Too New Instagram Account
Yes, you don’t enough trust from Instagram and the amount of action you can take limited and they’d give you Instagram action blocked quickly.
Instagram ranks your account based on how many followers you have most importantly the time of your account. They released a new Instagram update that you can check in that blog post.
With the “About This Account” released.
3. 2. Not Knowing your Instagram Action Limits
This is very simple.
If you’re starting a brand new account, you can expect to have a very few action available to your account.
When you’re trying to follow too many people at once you’ll be blocked or even if you’re trying to like too many people at once, you’ll even get Instagram like block as well.
The biggest issue people who trying to grow an IG page is using follow unfollow to eventually get action blocked, but what they should know is that there are a ton of ways that can get your IG page go viral and getting your first few thousands followers per day.
If you haven’t check out my recommended Instagram university, definitely check it out.
3. Posting Adult Content.
If you’re in a girl niche and fitness niche, most of your photos will easily be confused by Instagram and they’d take it down.
For fitness guys, which a page is posting about topless which is completely fine. But for fitness girls, if you’re new and posting bikini photos or nude photos, they’ll get taken down or immediate ban with action blocked, shadowbanned and ban on Instagram.
It’s important to have a proper niche in mind which you can read this blog post Instagram Niche Ideas: 8 Profitable Niches of All Time.
3. 4. Violated New Instagram Rules
This is one of the new Instagram rules to avoid Instagram action blocked and while I was growing my page @asknugget I notice the action limits from 900 per day, go down to 600, 300 to 200. Some people claims 200 – 300 but If you try to use any Instagram third part apps or automation tools and bots, you’ll notice an instant action blocked.
Without using bot and automation tools, you should be fine to be spamming IG with 200 – 300 daily actions, but I recommend 50 per day is great. If you got hit with the temporarily blocked or just recovered from any action blocked, your daily limit would also be lower, could be 25 actions daily limit.
3. 5. Overused Instagram DM Limit
This is my biggest mistake due to I always share how to make money on Instagram with 100 followers in this blog post but, I never mention overusing Instagram DM would put your account in jail and it is quickest way you can get blocked, if you’re sending too many DM too quickly.
What good is that, If you get action blocked on Instagram DM, it doesn’t affect your daily limit at all.
You can still try to get more followers, more likes and money without having problems, but it’s important to keep daily limit low.
3. 6. Instagram Activity Time Spent
I mention in the new Instagram update, they release a feature you can track your time spend and see how long you already stayed on app.
And yes, IG can also track how active you are on the app.
That means the more you stay on the app the more actions you can take. However, that doesn’t mean you have to spam on IG you can just scroll around and enjoy the content shared on content creator.
4. Instagram Action Blocked: Automation Tools or Third Party Apps Manipulations
If you’re planning to use any automation tools and bots or Instagram third party apps, it’s important that they are partnered with Instagram.
If it’s not an authorized app and as you connect your account to the any 3rd part apps, you’ll immediately get Instagram actioned follow by a shadowban.
4. VPN or Different IP Address
This is also a solution to fix Instagram action blocked which I’ll be getting in to later down this blog post… but only use this when you’re actually blocked, and never use it if you don’t have to.
Why?
Instagram spammer, apps developers used this a lot. and IG will take them seriously to maintain the platform quality.
4. User Complaints
This is important.
You have to know what to post in mind, and be consistent with it, if you plan on to use other people photo, be sure to give credits.
One of the worst thing you can do is writing a bad Instagram bio such as “no sending DM, Sending DM = blocks”.
Not a very welcome message and when you post photo, you won’t get much love.
5. Instagram Action Blocked – Solutions Fixed.

Uninstall Instagram app is so they can treat you as a complete new account login.
Delete your Instagram app means cookie and data collected IG will be removed. Especially if you’re a temporarily action blocked, you can almost immediately get rid of it.
Once you get rid of it, you don’t want to continue spamming the platform and wait for at least 24-hour then to post.
If you do continue spam right after you get rid of blocked, Instagram will pick up the pattern of your previous block and you’re getting into a longer blocked.
5. Report a Problem
With temporarily action blocked, you won’t be seeing the report a problem or the tell us button. You only see these options when you experience with blocked that has date on it.
By reporting a problem, you’re telling IG that you’re a human and you’re trying to get more followers and more likes on the platform.
On the other hands, avoid do that too many times, I recommend 5 times is a good. Imagine, they would lift the block to a longer period if you’re keep manipulate the report a problem button.
5. Switch to Mobile Data 3G/4G/5G/Starlink
Switch your wifi to mobile data and it could any G like 3G, 4G, 5G, and Starlink and combine this method with the first method.
Instagram recognize your IP address and what to know more?
They recognize your device as well, when repetitively got blocked, all of the methods in this blog post won’t be helped.
5. Unauthorized Instagram Third Party Apps
If you’re previously connect your account to any Instagram third part apps, automation tools and bots while they’re not partnered with Instagram, it’s time to removed them off your account and implement the method to proof to them that you are a human, not a bot.
As people like to use those best apps for likes bot that cause their IG accounts into problem.
5. Link your Instagram account to Facebook
Not just Facebook, but have a look at this list.
Connect to all apps listed here Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Weibo, Ameba, VKontakte and
Instagram is partner with these social media sites and that’s the reason they listed them in the apps. As you connected while also depend how many followers you have and how authorize you are, based on those number that IG will be judged.
5. Delete Recent Instagram Hashtags
Hashtags trigger Instagram the most as they bring in a lot of impression to your account and if you have a new account or already in an action blocked, remove any recent Instagram hashtags will be beneficial for blocked removal or improvement your account engagement.
5. 7. Change Password
Changing password is a quite dumb tip to be listed at first which Instagram might have already asked you to change your password right at the beginning.
After you change your password, you’ll notice the official Instagram action blocked announced and it depends on how many times you have action blocked which you might also face a shadowbanned as well.
And the very last thing you can do now….
5. 8. Wait.
All of the above would help you. But none of them would help you get rid of action blocked. You might want to being patience is the final option you can do.
This is the best solution for action blocked Instagram like fix and you only need wait for a minimum 24-hour maxed.
6. Instagram Action Blocked: Do and Don’t.
6. Instagram Action Blocked: Don’t
Don’t create another Instagram account and try to get more followers like I do. Why?
They tracked your IP and if you have this account with action blocked, when you create another new account, it’d also pop the action blocked for that account as well. But right now, creating a new account is not easy – read this blog post Instagram Sign Up Blocked – Solved in 5 Best Methods.
6. Instagram Action Blocked: Do.
Instead of making new account and start all over again might as well start a blog which is better. – Read this guide on how to start a blog: Your blog is your house, you don’t have to be under control by how much money you can make online. How To Remove Action Block On Instagram [Fast And Easy]
Sorry for the silly image, but it works well on YT and I don’t have time right now to make a new I’ve promised, today I’m going to be sharing 8 different ways that have worked for us in removing the action block on Instagram. I also want to mention that these methods yielded 87% success rate in solving the action block problem, which pretty much means that 9 out of 10 people with the action block problem will be able to fix it, if they try all of these methods. I also want to mention that each of these methods is pretty easy and fast to do, so there’s really no reason not to try all of them. I also want to note that we’ve done extensive testing to see what affects the action limits and how to increase it, and I definitely recommend you to check that as well, since it’s going to help you avoid action blocks in the methods work for each action block (follow blocks, like blocks, comment blocks and DM blocks) always, I’ve also published a video covering this, and if you like to learn by watching instead of reading, I got you Instagram Action Block Full Video (8 Different Methods)If you, however, like to learn by reading, then go ahead and my previous article, I’ve mentioned that there are 3 different types of action blocks. Depending on the type of action block you’ve received you will know if you are going to be able to fix it using some of the methods I’m going to mention later or you have to just wait it I go over different types of action blocks I want to mention that Instagram’s AI started to go pretty crazy with these blocks recently, probably because they are still tweaking settings, and pretty often they are falsely flagging users and blocking their actions without a real reason. If you are just a regular user, and you absolutely did nothing wrong, make sure to report a problem to Instagram, and your action block is going to be fixed most of the times. If you’ve tried that already or you think you did something wrong than continue reading. 1. Temporary action block: This one is usually the most common and expires pretty fast from several hours to 24h. Methods I’m going to mention later work pretty well with this type of action block. 2. Action block with an expiration date: This one has the time stamp saying when exactly it’s going to expire. Methods I’m going to mention later usually have pretty low success rate with this type of action blocks and your best bet is to wait it out. Sometimes however it can be fixed, but in general, it’s pretty rare. 3. Action block without an expiration date: This one is usually the worst, since it doesn’t have an expiration date and can last from several hours to two weeks. Some of the fixing methods usually work with this one, which is great since if you just wait it out you can lose up to two since I’ve covered that and you know your chances of getting the action block lifted, let’s go over different methods you should try to fix the action block. I’ve already mentioned this, but I want to mention it again since when we were testing we had the most success with it. Send a request to Instagram to manually review your account once the action block message pops up. You should absolutely do this, even if you are doing follow-unfollow or spamming with comments or likes. As I’ve mentioned Instagram is fighting with bots and when you request a manual review or report a problem, it will definitely let Instagram know that you are not a bot. If you don’t get unblocked within the first 12 hours, send it again. You can send as many requests as you want. Sometimes, they will miss the first message or two, so it’s much better to send multiple this method, we got unblock success rate of almost 50% and we DID spam with actions heavily, so it definitely works. Sometimes, you won’t get the option to request a manual review on the action block message, but you can go to Settings>Help>Report A Problem and just explain that you can’t like or follow and you don’t know why because you did nothing wrong. Pretty simple and fast to do, yet this is one of the most effective methods, especially for people who actually did nothing wrong. I’ve already mentioned multiple times, that you should use Instagram manually and stop with automation if you haven’t already delete all 3rd party apps and tools and change your IG password. Even scheduling apps and tools can cause the action block, that’s why advise you should avoid 3rd party scheduling apps, and that you should use Instagram’s own scheduling feature instead. The best thing you can do to make sure you’ve removed all access is to enable Two-Factor Authentication. A lot of people don’t know this, but when you enable two-factor authentication, you will basically let Instagram know that you are not using 3rd party tools, and you will increase your accounts health and trust score with this. This can lift your action block immediately, but if not, it will definitely help avoid another in the write your BIO and remove link from your BIO, if you have one. This worked for one of my friends recently, it’s easy and there’s no reason not to try it. In the previous article, I’ve mentioned that a link in BIO increases your chances to get the action block and decreases your action limit. While you are doing f/ uf or some other methods that require high usage of actions, definitely avoid having a link in the Instagram app and install it again. This should delete the cookies, cache and other things that Instagram is capturing. We had some success lifting temporary action blocks with this one and I’ve also seen people of forums mentioning that it worked for them on other types of action blocks as well. Pretty easy to do and again there’s no reason not to try to mobile data/ 4G network. As I’ve already mentioned in my other article, we’ve noticed that it’s easier to get action blocked while using your home IP than 4G mobile internet. If that’s the reason you got the action block this should fix it immediately. A lot of people asked me if there’s a cheap method to use 4G only and how I’m doing this. I don’t know where are you from, but in my country (Serbia) there are SIM solutions with a flat rate data for Instagram usage (around 5$ per month) and I’m using that. You should check if mobile providers in your country have something similar. I’m also currently testing different 4G proxies, and if I find some cheap reliable solution, I will let you can go one step further and switch the device you are using — try to log in on some other phone or tablet, sometimes even logging on PC helps. We had a high success rate of fixing action blocks without an expiration date and temporary blocks with this and the previous your Instagram account to a Facebook page or a profile. If that doesn’t help switch from personal to business or creator and vice-versa. As I’ve mentioned we have noticed that Instagram accounts which have been linked to a Facebook page seem to have higher action limit. Business accounts have an even higher limit and finally, creator accounts seem to have the highest limit so if this doesn’t help remove action block immediately, it can definitely help to prevent another action block once you get Be careful when switching to a business account, recently some of my friends reported having an engagement drop on some of their accounts, once they’ve switched to business. This has never happened to me, so I can’t speak from my own experience, but these are the people that I trust, and that’s why I advise caution. I plan to do some tests on this (switching to business account) and creator account as well, so stay tuned for you have some money, spend some money on ads — promote one of your posts. This has lifted action blocks for us in several cases, and I’ve also mentioned in the previous video that accounts who spend some money on ads (even as little as 5$) have higher action limits which should also help you avoid another action block in the none of these methods worked for you then unfortunately you will have to wait it out. As I’ve mentioned sometimes action block message comes with the expiration date and sometimes it doesn’t. Action blocks usually last from 12 to 48 hours, but sometimes they can last for up to two weeks. If that’s the case and you don’t want to wait that long, you can start growing another account while you’re waiting to get unblocked. Don’t forget to check how to avoid action blocks if you haven’t already, and if you have another device I would advise you to start the new account on that device using mobile now, unfortunately, there’s nothing else you can do, but since I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about action blocks on their personal accounts where they actually have done nothing wrong, I’m sure Instagram will take it a bit easier in the future, because they are really starting to get their users angry, which is just bad for my opinion, these action blocks and limits are not a bad thing, let me explain why. A lot of people using bots have already switched from Instagram to other social media platforms, and a lot more will probably also switch in the future, which means much less competition for people who are doing things manually, using right methods. A lot of other people that are not using bots, but had problems with action blocks, got really annoyed by this and stopped growing Instagram pages as well since they don’t know why they are getting blocked, and don’t want to spend time searching or one of my niches, where I have a page that’s #2 in terms of followers and growth, competition almost halved. A ton of pages stopped or reduced posting since June 2019 (when the action block started). The page that’s been #1 in this niche, stopped using fan page strategy (I’m going to cover this in the future) and their growth reduced by almost 70%. My page is now growing much faster than their page, and it seems that I’m going to pass them in terms of followers in October 2019. Once that happens my revenue will probably double. I’m seeing a similar trend in all niches that I’m working in on these action blocks are really preventing users to spam with following, I think follow-unfollow method, if done right, will actually start bringing even better results than before. If you haven’t already make sure to check my video where I’m explaining how to do follow unfollow method in depth, so far I haven’t received any action block on my new page which I’m growing from 0 to 10k using follow-unfollow method, so it still works and as I’ve mentioned it will probably going to work better than ever I stumble upon some other method that can potentially fix the action block, I’m going to list it here, since I can’t edit my YouTube video after you liked these tips and they’ve helped you, make sure to share it with your friends (It will help me a lot, and it will also help your friends) you’ve found out about some other way to lift the action block, please leave a comment explaining what method did you used and I’m going to list that method here and give you a I’ve mentioned in my video, I’ve been working on a video/ article about the best hashtag practices, but since a lot of people are complaining about problems with action blocks, I’ve decided to address this issue first. The next thing you can expect is the video and article about hashtags, so stay tuned for that.
