According to Greek mythology, Pandora was the first human woman. Created by the gods, her name meant “receiver/giver of all gifts”, including the gift of music that she received from the god Apollo. Unfortunately, her curiosity led her to open Pandora’s Box and unleash all manner of evil into the world, leaving nothing but hope behind.
Flash forward to today, where Pandora is now the name of a service that gives the gift of music to people who seek it out. And, unlike the gods who punished the mythological Pandora for her curiosity, the modern-day Pandora is all about rewarding your curiosity in music! Using the research findings from the Music Genome Project, the largest music-related study ever undertaken, Pandora lets you type in the name of a song, artist, or genre of music, and then play songs that are musically related. You can control Pandora even further by telling it what songs you like or don’t like, and it will use that information to play more of what you want to hear and less of what you don’t!
So what exactly is Pandora?
Pandora is a music streaming and discovery app. It lets you create “stations” based on songs, artists, or genres that you like, which then play related songs. For each station, you can choose which songs you like or don’t like, which will cause Pandora to play more songs similar to the ones that you like.
Pandora One is the paid subscription version of Pandora. It allows songs to be played in higher sound quality, and to be skipped more often. Pandora One also eliminates all commercials heard between songs on Pandora, and does not cause your current station to pause for a break as often as the free version.

1. Discover music on your terms, whenever and wherever you want.
Pandora is rather flexible with regard to how you use it. You can listen to it without an account, or you can create an account and save your musical preferences. Plus, you can listen to it directly on the Pandora website, or download the app for your mobile device or modern home sound equipment! Oh, and did we mention that it’s free, as well?
2. Create up to 100 custom radio stations based on music that you already like.
Is “Let it Be” by The Beatles your favourite song ever? Or maybe you’re more of a Rolling Stones kind of person. Or maybe you just like classic rock in general. Type a song, artists, or genre into Pandora, and it will find something that you’ll enjoy listening to!
3. Refine your radio stations by adding criteria, or liking/disliking songs.
Okay, so let’s say that you’re a fan of The Beatles, but don’t like the blues rock of the Rolling Stones. Maybe you like that The Beatles do feel-good pop songs, like The Beach Boys. You can tell Pandora to make a radio station that plays songs similar to those of both The Beatles and The Beach Boys at the same time! Or, if you happen to like a song that comes on, you can “thumbs up” it; similarly, you can “thumbs down” and skip a song that you don’t like. The more that you interact with Pandora, the better it learns your musical tastes, and the more it can play just the music that you want to hear!
4. Share your musical passions on Pandora, on social networks, or right on your device!
Can’t get enough of a song or station that you’re listening to on Pandora? Share it on your Pandora profile so that people who view you or follow you can see what you’re into in terms of music. Or, share your favourite stations and songs on your Facebook or Twitter accounts, so your friends can see what you’re jamming out to. You can even buy songs or CDs on iTunes or Amazon right from Pandora!

Solved: How to search for a song and play it – Pandora Community
Hi,
I’m trying to figure out how to get Kenny Rogers to play my favorite song Buy Me A Rose. When I look the song up in the Pandora search thing it appears to be on his Discovery Vaults CD other than his original CD called She Rides Wild Horses which has that song on there. Can somebody tell me how to fix this into my collection? I collected both CDs, but am having troubles getting him to play that song for me too. The original CD also has the song called The Greatest on it and I would like both songs to play on my station, but I just can’t figure it out. I put She Rides Wild Horses in one playlist and selected The Greatest on this one and then I put Buy Me A Rose in another playlist and selected Buy Me A Rose. It didn’t work I don’t think. I’m not sure though. I will keep you posted if it does. My 80s Country station seems to be working good so far after I fixed all my playlists with the actual CD name that’s the same as the song. Did I do it right with Kenny Rogers’ song?

@CntryMusLuvBug With your Pandora Premium subscription, you should be able to search for that specific song, and click on the Play button to get the song started.
If you are on a computer, you can find the search bar located at the top of the screen. Type in “buy me a rose” and you can then sort the search results by Songs.
From there, hover your cursor over the album art of the song, and then click on the Play button.

I’m still having troubles getting Kenny Rogers to play my favorite song Buy Me A Rose. I want him to play it on his She Rides Wild Horses instead of the Discovery Vaults CD. I put a checkmark by it on his original CD. I’m thinking if I just make a thumbnail for that song off the Discovery Vaults CD he will play it off his original CD:0). I will let you know in a little while. Just discovered I had to do that with a couple of other singers. Why did I have to do that?
I’m having troubles getting Keith Whitley to play the other songs I like alot along with 3 others he’s playing off his Don’t Close Your Eyes CD. I want him to play Don’t Close Your Eyes, When You Say Nothing At All, Ten Feet Away and Homecoming ’63 from his original CD. I can’t seem to figure it out without messing up on my 80s Country station again. I just got it back up running again last night after having issues with half of my playlists I created. Also, I want him to play Miami, My Amy on his L. A. To Miami CD. I can’t seem to figure that out either. He’s confusing. It seems like he wants to play the main title of his CDs on his hits CD.
Thanks, that was really super confusing. I couldn’t figure out how to get it working. Anybody who loves that Buy Me A Rose song would have been like me trying to figure out how to get it playing.
There’s three albums I’m working ‘t Close Your EyesL. To MiamiKentucky the Kentucky Bluebird one I want the Somebody’s Doin’ Me Right to play along with the main title of this CD and the other song I have checkmarked and it’s not playing after I put a checkmark by it in my collection.

I also like What Part Of No too, but I’m getting the live one of What Part Of No. I like the live one, but I prefer the regular non live one. Do we do the same thing with her CD like we did for Keith Whitley’s three CDs? It’s called A Picture Of Me – Greatest Hits And More. I have most of the songs list on this CD, but I just want Watch Me and What Part Of No.
