Mr. David Lee Gunnels Rincon Mr. David Lee Gunnels, Sr, 72, of Rincon, Georgia, passed away February 5, 2021 after a short illness. He was born to the late Otis Lee Gunnels and Lucile Foster Gunnels on February 2, 1949 in Atlanta, GA. Two brothers preceded him in death, Herbert Lawrence Butler and Richard Lamar Butler. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Turner Gunnels; his children, David Lee Gunnels, Jr., Tammy Shreve (Dennis), Tony Gunnels and Ashley Sanchez; step children, Randall Turner (Cheryl) and Jeremy Turner (Heather); grandchildren, Daphne, Deanna, Landon and Logan Gunnels, Gabrienne Mingledorff and Lucy Sanchez; step grandchildren, Mark, Lauren, Taylor, Jaylen and Grayson Turner, Tyler Wellman; great grandchildren Adalynn Gonsalves and Ryan Turner; a beloved brother, Lowell T. Butler (Cheryl) and several nieces and nephews. David was an owner of Coastal Roofing Company, Inc. in Port Wentworth, Georgia since 1985. He was a member of Centerpoint Community Church and an avid golfer. David loved God, his family and his dog Scruffy. The visitation will be from 6pm-8pm, at the funeral home, Friday, February 12, 2021. The funeral will be at 12 noon on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Thomas C Strickland & Sons Funeral Home Effingham Chapel located at 2460 Hwy 21S, Rincon, Georgia 31326. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery. Pastor Moses Toole will officiate the service and pallbearers are Marty Daniel, Ray Hampton, Jr., Charles Mingledorff, John Sauerland, Bruce Simmons and Joseph Rowland. Honorary pallbearers; Olin Foster, Dennis Fromme, William Pye, Daved Scarborough, Claude Turner and Lyndill Woodward. Thomas C. In his spare time, he likes to workout, cook, and spend time with his friends and family. He has a degree from Troy University and maintains a Series 62, 22 and 63 licenses.
