Which Streaming Services Have The Best Family Plans? – Forbes
Edit StoryAug 18, 2017, 08:15am EDT|This article is more than 4 years old.
The public is quickly catching onto the idea that streaming is here to stay, and every day new people finally open an account with one of the many services that have established themselves as leaders in the field. There are still millions who need to be convinced that paying for music is worth the monthly investment, so most of the biggest services in the field have launched some form of a family plan, which typically allow multiple music lovers to come together and pay one very reasonable price for access to their absolute favorite tracks and albums.
But which service is right for you and your family? Here is a current look at what every service charges and what one receives for that price.
The Best
Five different major players with availability here in the United States—Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music Unlimited, Google Play Music and Deezer—all offer nearly identical plans to families, including pricing and shareability. All five options sell their family subscription for $14. 99 per month, and it can be split between six accounts. That should be enough for most families, and for some, there would still be room to add a friend, neighbor or perhaps to try and teach grandma about streaming music. At that price, which works out to just $2. 50 per person per month, why wouldn’t you add anyone?
Google Play Music doesn’t just allow six people to sign on for that extremely low price, it lets them choose a number of devices they can listen on. The internet giant stipulates that each of the six users on a family account can listen on 10 different devices, which is more connected hardware than most people own, so it’s not likely anybody runs out of options.
The Second Best
Jay-Z-owned Tidal also offers a family plan for a monthly fee of just $14. 99, though it can only accommodate five people, not six. For most families, that’s no issue, and the company also has an option to upgrade to Hi-Fi listening for just $29. 99 per month if there are any families of audiophiles out there.
Not Even In The Running
At the moment, both Pandora and SoundCloud don’t have any family-focused tiers, though they both do allow for free streaming in one way or another, so they are still incredibly popular with millions of people across the country.
The Worst
Of all the services that offer any family plan, Napster would have to come in last place in terms of what one gets for their investment. The company, which was formerly known as Rhapsody here in the States, has a family-only subscription for the popular price of $14. 99, but it only allows for one parent and one child to listen. Napster does allow anyone to tack on additional listeners, but it is going to cost them, and it can add up pretty quickly. According to the company, for a parent and their four children to all be streaming at the same time (or, reasonably, two parents and three children), they’ll need to hand over $29. 99 every month. That’s double what Spotify, Apple Music, and the three other options listed above are offering, only Napster still doesn’t even include at least six people.

What’s the best way to handle multiple ‘artists’ on a … – Reddit
So, I release music under my given ever, I’ve started a new project that I want to release under a different name. What’s the best way to handle this? I’d like people finding this new music to see it under this pseudonym, but I don’t want to start a whole new account and lose the followers I have. I also don’t like the idea of starting a second account and potentially “going pro” and having all my older music not have the same features, there a way that my old music can remain under my old name, while the new stuff is under the pseudonym? Kinda like how Youtube allows you to have multiple channels under one for any help you can provide.
