Addiction does not exist, it cannot be objectively proven to exist in the human body, is not a medical problem, and certainly is not a disease. What addiction actually is is a pseudo-scientific, euphemistic term for the absence of will power, and a way to absolve people of responsibility for their actions. I shall use the NHS definition here, but feel free to cite your own in your replies to NHS definition of addiction (which I contend is contradictory and incoherent):Addiction is defined as not having control over doing, taking or using something, to the point where it could be harmful to you. Addiction is most commonly associated with gambling, drugs, alcohol and nicotine, but it’s possible to be addicted to anythingEmphasis, this is a definition from a medical body, and so presumably the definition used when “treating” “addicts” claims addicts do “not have control”, clearly this cannot be the case because if it were addicts would never cease to be addicts and could never give up their substance, yet we know people give up their substances all the time and they give them up by a conscious choice to cease taking that definition also claims that it is possible to be addicted to anything, well, it seems to me that if anything is potentially addictive then nothing is definition goes on to say:This [strong urge] can develop into a habit that becomes very hard to here it says “Very hard” not “impossible” but if someone has “no control” as was perviously said, surely it would be impossible to stop, not just very hard? Being addicted to something means that not having it causes withdrawal symptoms or a ‘come down’. Because this can be unpleasant, it’s easier to carry on having or doing what you crave, and so the cycle, it it certainly easier to do something that is enjoyable over something that is unpleasant, but that is still a choice one makes, no? Now, on the point of addiction being a disease. Well, the “cure” for nicotine addiction is to chose to stop smoking cigarettes, to abstain from them. They chose to take them up, and they chose to stop taking them. Someone suffering from cancer has not chosen to have it and cannot chose not to have it. If I lock an alcoholic in a room with no alcohol, he is now “cured” from his alcoholism, if I did the same with a cancer patient, they would still be a cancer ‘s my case,, users of CMV! IAmA polysubstance addict (addicted to being inebriated on …

After seeing the IAmA by the experienced drug user, I wondered if anyone would be interested in seeing one from someone like summarize an unusual problem with many contributing factors, I’m addicted to the idea of drugs and getting high. This means that I spend most of my time thinking about, obtaining, taking, or being under the influence of some kind of drug. There is a very strong compulsion telling me to take anything to escape sobriety. I’d rather spend a day asleep than spend one sober, save for a few away if you’re interested. Nothing’s off Going to try to go to bed early. Keep the questions coming. I’ll answer them whenever I wake up. Edit2: Back.
