Holiday Boxes were the first and only special offer boxes in 2016. They were available from the shop for a limited time.
From the morning of December 25th, 2016 through the afternoon of December 30th, 2016 (PST) Special, Great, and Ultra Boxes were available for purchase from the Shop. These boxes contained some items that are usually not available for purchase and they were offered at a discount rate. [1][2]

Is the special, ultra or adventure box worth it – January 2021Here’s a breakdown of the items in each box and the total value of each, including the total for the entire box. Like I said, they are always a great deal if you plan to purchase the items in them, so this is the short answer. For the long answer, keep reading below. Note: All items, including Poké Balls, are valued at what is billed in the store. There are ways to save on them outside of the boxes, and some can be obtained for free from Poké Stops, so keep that in mind. This gives you a nice variety of items that are almost universally useful for all players. The Adventure Box is generally worth buying for anyone who enjoys hatching eggs. With more 12k Eggs on the way and a pretty nice selection of Pokémon in the current Egg Pool for January 2021, you can have a lot of eggs that require a lot of walking. Tack on the Incense and a few Ultra Balls to catch the currently high leak rate Pokémon and you’ve got a great box worth buying for most players who like to hatch that’s what we think about whether the Special, Ultra, or Adventure box is worth it. Pokemon GO Event Box Returns: Is It Worth It?
This guide breaks down Pokemon GO’s Event Box and Adventure Box to help gamers decide which in-game purchase has a better value proposition for Raid Passes.
Pokemon GO players have been racing from one event to the next all summer long and the festivities are showing no sign of slowing down. Between the special Entei Raid evening and the ongoing Armored Mewtwo appearances, one common theme throughout nearly all the summer events has been an emphasis on Battle Raids. Although it’s great to have the opportunity to defeat and catch these powerful metarelevant Pokemon, raiding does require players to come up with some Raid Passes.
Luckily, Pokemon GO does often offer special deals on Premium Raid Passes through boxes in the in-game store that can be purchased with Coins. The currency can be earned in-game at a rate of 50 coins per day, but trainers can also shell out real world dollars and cents to add more coins to their coffers. The popular Event Box just returned to the Pokemon GO Shop, which means players can now debate over the value proposition of that item versus the Adventure Box.
Each box has its own strengths, but for players who are Battle Raid focused and plan to drop something in the neighborhood of 1, 500 coins, multiple Event Boxes seem like a smart choice over a single Adventure Box.
The big swing in value here actually comes from the secondary items, more so than the Premium Raid Passes. Both passes offer extra Incubators and Lucky Eggs, but the Event Box has Star Pieces in place of the dreaded Incense slot. Incense is a notoriously unpopular utility item for more hardcore players, whereas Star Pieces allow trainers to stock up on the game’s most valuable resource: Stardust.
The choice seems pretty easy this time around, which should make shopping a bit less stressful. If you have the coins to spare, Event Boxes are the way to go. We’re not sure how long this deal will stay in the store, so it’s wise to shop quickly if you plan to make a few purchases.
